Ranau Member of Parliament Datuk Siringan Gubat (UPKO), one of the Vice Presidents of United Pasokmomogun Kadazandusun Murut Organisation (Upko), said he believed Chin was not trying to become a hero as alleged by certain State leaders when he made his controversial statement. "I believe those people who are doing that are really or truly concerned over the BN integrity and BN Sabah should not ignore it because it is very important," he said, referring to Chin's statement and his party Supreme Council's subsequent stand on the matter.
"I recalled that Datuk Ghapur had raised his dissatisfaction over Tan, who he (Ghapur) said should not remain where he is presently. I was there and was listening attentively to him saying it, and it does prove that even among Umno Sabah leaders themselves there is dissatisfaction," said Siringan. He said the State leaders should also give thought to the main reason SAPP withdrew from the coalition last year.
